I thought this was an interesting listen—thanks for posting. I really appreciate the attention to engaging fluency with complex text. That has not been a common practice and I think there’s a lot of knowledge and skill that needs to be built in this area. My wondering: did I understand correctly that the pilot used somewhat random texts instead of aligning with the core text students were studying in class? I know the pilot was looking for breadth, but you can definitely still achieve that with supplemental texts. This was an important topic, thanks for posting on it!

Yes, they took 10 texts from the curriculum, but it didn’t seem like a knowledge-building unit. The rest were random.
